Water Treatment Solutions That Work

Cooling Towers
Ascend Performance Materials

Ascend Performance Materials is a premium provider of high quality plastics, fibers and chemicals. One of their nylon carpet fiber plants in South Carolina has cooling towers and air washers with a combined flow of 45,000 gallons per minute. After a comprehensive analysis was undertaken it was determined that chemicals were too expensive and they began looking for an alternative to lower their operating costs. Ozone equipment was installed on all towers and chilled water pits.  Results: savings in excessive of $250,000 per year and the quality of water was greatly improved which reduced the maintenance on their chillers and air compressors.

Charlotte Pipe and Foundry

Charlotte Pipe and Foundry manufactures pipe and fittings for the plumbing industry, and proudly makes all their products in the USA. Within their North Carolina plant they were experiencing excessive maintenance costs on their chillers due to fouling from biological growth.  Ozone equipment was installed on all the towers and chilled water pits.  Results: chiller tube cleaning was reduced from once a month to once per year.

Project Management
Wildlife Conservation Society
The New York Aquarium

Founded in 1895 as the New York Zoological Society, the Wildlife Conservation Society [WCS] was one of the first conservation organizations in the U.S. The Society began with a clear mandate: Advance wildlife conservation, promote the study of zoology, and create a first-class zoo. The Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and New York Aquarium are all part of this organization and since 2011 the water treatment for their aquaculture is managed by Water Tech Solutions.

In 2012, The New York Aquarium on Coney Island was flooded during Hurricane Sandy.  All the ozone and support equipment was contaminated with salt water and had to be replaced. Water Tech Solutions managed the selection, installation and start up of this project and maintains these units as well as the ozone equipment at three city zoos. Additionally, Water Tech Solutions has been part of the water treatment solution for the newest exhibit on Coney Island, The Shark Tank.

Water Quality Compliance
Santee Cooper

Santee Cooper is a public power utility owned by the state and invested in all 46 counties of South Carolina. One of their large coal fired electrical generating station had to discharge their domestic waste after preliminary treatment into the Santee River. EPA guidelines restricted the discharge of chlorine, coliform and de-chlor chemicals into the river.  Santee Cooper chose to install ozone equipment which has been serviced and maintained by Water Tech Solutions for 11 years. This critical choice eliminated the possibility of water contamination and has allowed them to meet their discharge regulation without constant violations.

U.S National Whitewater Center

The U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) is home to the world’s largest man-made whitewater river, offering premier outdoor activities including whitewater rafting and kayaking and flatwater kayaking. The USNWC was required by the State of North Carolina to reduce the turbidity of their 12 million gallon man-made whitewater river. In Spring 2017, Water Tech Solutions installed Advanced Filtration Media into the water filtration system. Since that time their water has been filtered to drinking water quality.
